There is no doubt: doing our part in letting the Holy Spirit sanctify us is a struggle, especially in our consumer-driven, media-saturated, fast-paced culture that relentlessly assaults our ability to be still and constantly appeals to the desires of our flesh.
Listen to the lesson below about our fight against the flesh, the world, and the devil. Then look up the verses listed and reflect on the questions.
Verses to study:
Ephesians 4:17-24
Romans 12:2
James 4:4
1 Peter 2:9-11
1 Peter 5:6-9
Some questions for you to ponder:
1. Am I firmly convinced that the pursuit of my holiness is worth the struggle against my sinful nature, the world, and the devil?
2. What are areas in my nature that are most vulnerable to temptation and how can I guard against giving in?
3. Consider starting every day by praying through the armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-18). You can say something like: “Lord, today I go forth in Your truth, in the righteousness purchased for me by Christ, with readiness to serve that comes from the gospel of peace. I set my mind on the things that are above, where my life is hidden with You in Christ according to my salvation, I stand in faith against the devil’s fiery arrows of doubt, and take up Your word as a weapon against any worldly thought, wisdom, and philosophy that presents itself to me in conflict with Scripture. Help me be vigilant and have an attitude of prayer, guided by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
Remember: God is on your side!
Have a blessed Easter. The Lord Is Risen!
