OUR DIVINE D-FENCE
Perhaps it is because I had too much time on my hands the last few days being relegated to my room with a bad cold and a positive COVID test, or because I have been thinking about this every time I pray through the spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6. It occurred to me that […]
THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER
Switching things up a bit! Here’s an 8.5 minute video taken on my back porch on a rainy day in Georgia with my thoughts on how the parable of the sower affects my heart when I engage with the Word of God. Enjoy!
HE REVEALS HIS THOUGHTS
One of the things that fascinates and warms me the most about a relationship with our God – Almighty Creator, Father of mankind, Lord, King of the universe – is that He reveals His thoughts to us. Amos says so: He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to […]
ETERNITY IN OUR HEARTS
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Proverbs 3:11 I found myself thinking about this verse in Ecclesiastes. It is a well-known Scripture in missiology. Don Richardson, a missionary […]
ANOTHER FISH IN THE BASKET
The feeding of the five thousand in Matthew 14 is a well-known story – one of several where our Lord took something very small and turned it into something big to satisfy the needs of many. It’s an encouraging picture of what the Lord can do with the little we have. Such is the case […]
THE ROOT AND THE FRUIT OF WISDOM
You will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity. Proverbs 2:5-7 We’re surrounded by lots of things that claim to be wisdom. […]
GAZING UPON THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD
Psalm 27:4 reads:One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. This verse poses a problem for many of us: God […]
THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS THE POWER OF GOD
In case you’re expecting to become party to secret intel about God, think again. There is nothing new apart from what has been revealed in Scripture. Some of it just bears highlighting and illuminating si it seems like something new. Such as this. The power of God at work in us in all its facets […]
REVELATION AND ILLUMINATION
No born-again Christian will deny that the Bible is God’s divinely inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word. Many can even quote the verses that call it God-breathed, useful for training in righteousness, alive, active, and sharper than a double-edged sword. But for most believers, it remains a difficult book to read, let alone study in-depth for […]
GAZING UPON THE BEAUTY OF THE INVISIBLE GOD
In Psalm 27:4 King David candidly shares a particular request he has made of God: One thing I have asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to meditate […]
