Last week we discussed the importance of pursuing holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, Who Himself is holy.
But how does holiness relate to our salvation? Listen to today’s lesson, then study the passages below and prayerfully answer the reflection questions. Fasten your seatbelts, there is a lot to cover!
Scripture verses:
John 3:16
Romans 5:9
John 1:12,13
Acts 13:39
Romans 3:23-25
John 3:5
Ephesians 1:13,14
John 16:13
Romans 8:11
Galatians 5:22,23
Ezekiel 36:27
Some questions for personal reflection as you meditate on these texts:
- Do I still wrestle with guilt and doubt concerning my salvation? If so, ask the Lord
to deepen your conviction that you are justified in Christ and, therefore, free from condemnation of any kind (see Romans 8:1) - Am I yielded to the Holy Spirit, who has sealed me for God’s possession and is a deposit of my coming inheritance in heaven so that He can truly be my teacher and transform me in the image of Christ? If not, what must I change so He can do His teaching and transforming work in me?
- Take time every day this week to think about the great mercy we have received to be saved from the wrath of God over our sin and the depth of His love for us that drove Him to become a human being and go to the cross to pay the penalty we deserve. Let it stir worship, thanksgiving, and awe in you.
