ANOTHER FISH IN THE BASKET

The feeding of the five thousand in Matthew 14 is a well-known story – one of several where our Lord took something very small and turned it into something big to satisfy the needs of many.

It’s an encouraging picture of what the Lord can do with the little we have. Such is the case with my writing – I am not a gifted promoter and don’t have a huge social media network. The books I write are small fish I bring to God, entrusting the multiplication and impact for spiritual growth to Him while I get the word out as best I can.

With that in mind, I am happy to announce that my second book is out! It is entitled Mining for Gold and is a book that helps you dig deep to uncover the life-changing treasures of Scripture.

My reason for writing this book is that I believe that engagement with God’s living Word has become increasingly superficial. As a result, biblical illiteracy is as big a problem in the Church as prayerlessness is.

A lot of Christians don’t know that “there’s gold in them that hills.” They see 66 books in small print that are for the most part difficult to read and hard to understand. And they don’t have the basic knowledge and tools to dig a little deeper and unearth the glory beneath.

This book makes that fairly simple. It provides background information, tools, and helpful exercises falling the analogy of a miner sinking a shaft into bedrock to find gold. He knows one thing for sure: you won’t find gold by scratching the surface!

My prayer is that this book, like the book Prayer Matters I wrote two years ago, will transform lives and help restore the Bible to its rightful place in our lives as the life-giving book God intended it to be. I hope that, at the very least, it will whet the reader’s appetite to begin the journey of discovering its beauty and depth to where the Holy Spirit can use it to radically change their thinking.
